Vbulletin and website questions

Postby Coincrazed » February 18th, 2012, 3:58 pm

Lately, I have been getting threatening and harassing emails from this guy that claims I "don't own" my site. I traced this guy to a jerk that sent me a threatening PM on my own site last month. He claims my site is "cheap, I don't own it as I'm running Mybb" well, you get the picture

Anyway, is there a way to REALLY own your site, and not
have to pay a monthly hosting fee?

ALSO, Do you have to be a certain age to get a Vbulletin license? I want my site a little bigger before I make the decision to use Vbulletin. Some of my members even said they would help buy it, but I say its a little early, LOL.

Hope you guys have some good info.

Latest email from this sonofab****:

RE: Coin Forum or Collectibles

Hey, do you guys (by any chance) know of any other forums with like more features or members? I like your but I prefer something with more features and that is owned not borrowed from cheap places like MyBB or something. Nothing against the owners here, just my opinion. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My reply:

Are you buy any chance saying I do not own Purely Numismatics? If you are you're wrong. I own the site. What more "features" are you talking about? And where did you come from? You said I locked your account on Purely Numismatics, what was your username there?

I think this guy is just trying to push your buttons. And from your reaction, it seems to be working.
I think the only way to 100% own your site, is to host it yourself and write the software yourself, then copyright it.

Many people use MyBB. And just because you do, doesn't mean the site isn't yours. You manage it, you run it, you're renting the server space.
For example if someone is running a business in town, and they are using a certain type of security system, doesn't mean they don't own their business, they manage it, they run it, and the rent the premises. Same basic concept.
I'd say this is the same guy who was at you before, but with a new name and a new angle.
