Weird emails. (help please?)

I keep getting emails from RuneScape.com telling me I'm trying to sell my account which isn't allowed and my account maybe suspended.


Thing is... I never create a runescape account. How did my email get dragged into this, I tried clicking the "this is not my account" option, and cancel it, but it says the code I entered expired.


I don't really understand... Any advice?

Get a contact email addy (from their homepage?) and send a 'receipt required' complaint to them. Include the mail they sent you, explain that you haven't got an account and demand that they remove your email addy from their records.

If it's happened to you, it'll have happened to probably thousands before you, they should be geared up to sort it out without too much stress.

If they don't stop I'll give that a go, but it seems to be stopped.

Its spam! I got these a lot too!

If it continues to happen create another email address for personal and then one for spam Eg: Forums, Facebook ect.

I have, but this is on my personal email, I have never even been on RuneScape!

Yes. shovenose2 meant that this email is general spam - in other words, it's someone pretending to be from RuneScape and phishing for players' usernames and passwords. The email looks very convincing, but the linked text and the actual hyperlink are different if you look carefully. Spammers who do not work for RuneScape send these emails to everyone, including people who have never even heard of RuneScape, so 1) your email is probably not on the RuneScape list and 2) it's not RuneScape's fault that you're receiving this spam. Just ignore these emails, get a spam filter, or use GMail. HTH!

Its spam. I have an account, but i've never used it, and never will. I have never tried to sell it. I just ignore them as they just go in my spam folder anyways. Basically the spammer will get your email from other sites and spammers .
Nothing you can do but just ignore!
