Exotic animals as pets?

Did you ever find people having exotic animals as pets? Like a shark, or dolphin?

I've never met someone with exotic pets, unless turtles count.

I misread this title so badly, then again with Bróna's post.

Well, turtles do count too. As rarely there are people who'd get them.

Depends, there are some animals I think should not be brought up as pets, specially if they can grow and harm you by instinct like sharks or tigers.

As for turtles I don't think it is taht rare, you can buy them in pet shops. Then again there are other species not sold and you could even get in trouble for catching and keeping one. I guess it depends.

As for knowing someone... well, me and my brother found some toads some years ago with the raining season, we picked them up and kept them, they lasted for a good while, we liked seeing them eating crickets.

Well, I guess you got some point here. Wild animals would lose all their wilderness and sharp teeth and other stuff the natures has gifted them to be able to survive if they get domesticated, so I'd suppose you got a point.

Do potbellied pigs count? If so, then I have an exotic pet. Her name is London Ainsley, and she believes with all her piggy heart and soul that she is a dog.

She was raised with dogs, and she goes out to potty like a dog. She will even "bark" at the door or if strangers come close to her yard :)
Never trust a girl who would do this to her male bulldog :D

I have 2 rats. I don't know if they are so exotic though. Most people don't want to touch them. They also don't like the rats crawling on them. They think they are nasty like huge sewer rats or something. They are cute though and wouldn't hurt a fly. I've had a who had a python, it was huge!!!! I was like whoa! Can I pet it...but instead he let me feed it....and I felt bad because I was thinking about my pet rats...
